Firewall Settings

Note: Marratech, which was acquired by Google in April 2007, has discontinued support for that platform as of June 2009.  Verizon Access New Jersey still owns a perpetual license and will continue to run Marratech on our servers as long as our members find it useful, although at minimal support. We encourage ALL our members to move to Elluminate Live! as it is more feature-rich and provides the next generation of webconferencing. Elluminate Live! meets and exceeds [PDF] Marratech in most all functionality. Moderators are required to complete training before accounts can be established. Connections between PC/Mac to legacy H.323 endpoints or bridges can be facilitated by the Verizon Access New Jersey Video Portal. Please contact us.

Marratech E-meetings normally work fine with the default settings on the smaller firewalls designed for small office or home use.

The E-Meeting client allows for working behind NAT and is as easy as viewing a video stream from and web site. If you would like to join an E-Meeting on ANJ Video Portal, you may need to configure your firewall to receive data.

Only two steps are needed to allow a Marratech client to connect to a Marratech Manager through a firewall.

First, the Marratech client software must be allowed to connect to the HTTP ports (http://www.anjvideoportal.net:8000 or  151.198.208.101). If you can browse the web, this is usually already set up in some way. The client can use a web proxy server, which is defined in the client preferences window. See below.

Second, the client must be allowed to send traffic to all UDP data ports (52000 to 52999) AND it must be allowed to receive returning traffic.

As all traffic is initiated from the client, it is recommended that any firewalls are set up with Dynamic State rules. This means the firewall will only be open when the service is actually used from the inside.

The E-Meeting ANJ Video Portal server (http://anjvideoportal.net:8000) uses the following ports and IP addresses:
• IP Address: 151.198.208.101
• TCP ports: 80 (for http), 8000, and 443 (for https)
• UDP ports: 52000 to 52999 - These ports should be opened to "allow return" mode.

Marratech client must be allowed to connect to the HTTP port.. The client can use a web proxy server, which is defined in the client preferences window.

Marratech client must be allowed to send traffic to all UDP data ports defined in Marratech Manager (default is 52000 to 52999) AND it must be allowed to receive returning traffic.
