All public and non-public K-12 schools and public libraries located
within Verizon's territory benefit from our commitment to deliver an
advanced telecommunications network.
Known as Access New Jersey (ANJ), this acceleration of Verizon's
Opportunity New Jersey (ONJ) network modernization program includes:
- Special Access New Jersey rates
for New Jersey K-12 schools and public libraries available through
2014.
- FREE customer premise equipment for K-12 schools and public
libraries that subscribe to ANJ so they can connect to the
high-speed network.
- FREE Video Portal
Services providing interactive video capability for K-12 schools
and public libraries throughout the state including multipoint
conferences, gateway services and bridging to the commodity
Internet*.
- K-12 schools and libraries that participating in ANJ may
apply for federal Universal Service Fund subsidies in addition to
the special ANJ rates.
The ANJ program represents Verizon's commitment of more than $150
million to New Jersey Schools and Public Libraries.
To participate, schools and libraries must have an approved Technology
Plan — the same plan that is required to apply for funding from the
Federal Universal Service Fund and No Child Left Behind.
Launched by Verizon in 1998 with an initial $80 million commitment to
placing emerging information technologies into learning environments in
New Jersey. Verizon committed an additional $55 million in June 2002 for
Communications Technology over the next five years.
* Bridging to the commodity Internet at a “best effort” QoS.
