How to Use ANJ Video Portal Services

The originator of a request for the Portal's services will need to provide the following information for each participant in the videoconference, ten work days in advance of the session:

  • Event Date
  • Event Start Time
  • Event Duration
  • Event Participants information
  • Site coordinator phone number and email address
  • Site connection info for non ANJ members

This request can be done online for all registered ANJ users. All participants must register before requesting service. Only one participant needs to contact the Video Portal staff to schedule a session.

The Video Portal staff will provide the appropriate dial in numbers to the originating participant (Tech Coordinator on record). It will be the responsibility of the participant originating the request to inform the other participants of the appropriate dial-in numbers, required tests and registration for new users.

Video Portal Services:
Gateways calls: ISDN - ATM - IP or to the Commodity Internet (best effort QoS for all connections to the commodity Internet).

All calls will be 384K. Calls can be 128 - 768 if sites have this capability and request it.

* Note: Bridging to the commodity Internet at a “best effort” QoS.

Multipoint Calls: ISDN, ATM, or IP connected sites for multipoint calls. All calls can be from 128K up to 768K for connected participant's sites depending on their capabilities and requests.

All MCU calls will be scheduled as continuous presence; this gives the participants the option to see and hear all other sites in the conference simultaneously in varying screen views.

All sites will be responsible for the audio/video quality and operation of their end points at their respective sites. All sites will have to call into the portal with the appropriate dial in numbers assigned by the Video Portal staff. It will be the responsibility of the participant originating the request to inform the other participants of the appropriate dial-in numbers.

When resources allow, conferences start times are scheduled with 30 minutes prior to an event. The event will end at the time you have specified. If you require more time in your ongoing multipoint conference, you must call and request it. This will ultimately depend on resource availability.

Tests and registrations are required for all new users. They should register and schedule tests time prior to your session to get familiar with the end station operation and ensure connectivity. Ten work days in advance of all requested conferences are required. Test conferences with all sites are preferred. It is the originating participants responsibility to set up all tests and registrations for all non ANJ member sites to ensure a smooth conference experience.
