Supported Platforms and Minimum System Requirements for
using Vidyo
Microsoft Windows
- Windows XP SP2 or higher (32 bit)
- Vista (32 or 64 bit)
- Windows 7
- Running Vidyo in a virtual environment such as VMware is not
recommended or supported!
Apple Macintosh
- Mac OS X 10.5 or higher
- Intel Processor ONLY
- Running Vidyo in a virtual environment such as VMware or
Parallels is not recommended or supported!
Minimum Requirements (allows for CIF up to SD):
- Windows - Pentium 4
- At least 1GB RAM
- At least 40 MB free disk space
- Broadband Internet Connection
Recommended Requirements (allows for SD up to HD):
- Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz or higher
- At least 2GB RAM
- At least 40 MB free disk space
- Broadband Internet Connection
ALL Clients Require:
- Administrator rights to computer to install required Vidyo Desktop software.
- Flash Plugin must be installed. See Adobe for plugin if you need to install.
- ALL Participants need to test connectivity with the
Verizon Access New Jersey Vidyo servers from the location they
will be joining the session. This is ensure that there are no firewall or proxy issues that an
Administrator will be required to configure. See Firewall
information here.
- If you are experiencing install issues make sure you have the
required Java installed on your computer. You can download the
latest version of Java from
www.java.com. Also make sure that your personal firewall or
anti-virus running on your local computer is not blocking the Vidyo
Desktop installation.
- Running Vidyo in a virtual environment such as VMware or
Parallels is not recommended!
RECOMMENDED VIDEO AND AUDIO HARDWARE
Built-in webcams are usually sufficient if your computer has one. However, some of the webcams mentioned below can deliver better picture quality.
PC headset or a USB speakerphone is required be used for ALL participants.
This is due to acoustic echo and outside noise that can disrupt a
session. We do NOT recommend joining a conference using software
echo cancellation running on your computer. This utilizes a lot of
computer resources and usually does not work very well. Below are some recommendations for webcams and audio hardware.
